PLAN 1: THE CORE DIPLOMA ROUTE
Two Year Community College or Junior College
This plan is the basic core diploma plan in Texas which students earn 22 credits. Students who graduate under this program are only eligible to attend a community college or junior college. Students who would like to eventually transfer to a 4- year university must earn a minimum of 15 college hours to do so.
Financial aid is decided by the community college, students may or may not qualify.
This plan is the recommended graduation plan of Texas. This route will enable students to be a candidate for the four year university. In addition to the credit requirement of 26, students must also take the SAT or ACT and score the appropriate range of 900 SAT/ 18 ACT in order to graduate and be accepted into a four year school. Depending upon your school of choice, there may be other requirements involved!

PLAN 3: MILITARY
Oak Brook Baptist does not offer an option for students to be routed to the military, due to the complicated rules and laws that continue to change from one recruiter to another. If you choose to join the military you do so at your own risk, however here are the basic enrollment requirements (that will change depending on your recruiter):
Admission Requirement: Passing the ASVAB exam with a 50+ or earn 15 college hours from a community college or university
Army
Navy
Air Force (ASVAB 75 or higher)
Marines (ASVAB 75 or higher)
PLAN 4: LAW ENFORCEMENT CAREERS
Students who plan to acquire a job in law enforcement must also earn 12 to 15 college hours in addition to graduating, due to being a home school graduate. You may also find that getting a GED may be the better option!
Sample careers include: Deputy, Clerk Communication Officer, State Trooper, Detention Officer, Police Officer and/or Medical Officer
Other Law Enforcement positions may apply!
Oak Brook Baptist does not offer an option to route students to vocational training or trade school. We suggest students work on trades or certificate programs through the community college in their local area. Trades offer a short term program that help students earn job skills for the workforce. Other options outside of a community college will cost tipple in tuition so be careful!

Testing & College Admission

Home School Grads are Exempt from College TAKS Requiremnts
Requiring a student to pass the TAKS test as an admission criteria does not apply to home schooled graduates. The TAKS test is a high school measurement used by public schools only.
Home School Grads College Test Requirements are Different
Home schooled graduates do not have a testing requirement for graduation. Therefore most colleges and universities will use the THEA test scores, ACT, or SAT scores as an admission requirement for home schooled graduates. Students must have the required THEA, ACT, or SAT score for admission purposes.
If a student does not have THEA scores, the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) allows for colleges and universities to give placement tests to those students. The Placement Test scores will reveal if students need remediation courses or regular college level courses.TSI helps schools to provide an equal opportunity for ALL students to attend college.
Home School Friendly Colleges/ Universities
There is no reason that a student with a diploma from a home school in Texas could not go to college. Some colleges and universities are more friendly toward home schoolers than others, so some will be easier to work with.
